I am an executive/upper-level Consumer Products Sales Management Professional with a broad base of experience across multiple category segments.
I have over 20 years of Field Sales and Sales Management experience ranging from managing large-scale company sales organizations and business development team, to developing and managing a network of independent sales representatives/brokers. I have experience in most major retail sales channels, and have sold direct, to wholesalers and through distributors.
My experience has been with industry and category leaders, including Beecham Products, Hallmark Cards, and most recently as Vice President of Business Development with American Greetings’ PAPYRUS-Recycled Paper Greetings subsidiary.
I’m currently looking for a new Sales Leadership role with a dynamic and progressive organization where I can leverage my experience and record of sales success!
Among the highlights of my sales career was my leadership role as Director of Sales at PAPYRUS in the launch of the first ever “premium alternative” greeting card brand into the category. Taking an unprecedented product and brand to the retail marketplace was exciting and rewarding as we rapidly penetrated the market and grew brand name recognition.
It has been my experience that the most important qualities of a business leader are vision and the ability to build a strong team of professionals who have the skills and experience to achieve success. .
When making hiring decisions, I use a behavior-based approach and look for a demonstrated record of past achievement and experience. The most important qualities are strong communication skills, tenacity, problem solving, and a solid character – including honesty and integrity. I think my direct reports would describe me as a respected leader who truly does lead by example, and that I employ a collaborative, teamwork approach and management style.
What I enjoy most about my role as a senior sales management professional is the ability to have a significant impact in the development of organizational direction and goals. I believe that key team member input and buy-in are vital to the overall success of the organization. Equally important is an environment where creativity and teamwork are fostered, which enhances performance and maximizes potential.
If you asked people that have managed me in the past, I think they would describe me as a strong team player, goal focused and results driven. Also, that I have a very strong work ethic and am willing to do whatever it take to “get the job done”. What is my most evident area for improvement? Learning to be more patient with myself!
The thing that differentiates me from many other sales management professionals is my diverse professional background. I grew up in a family owned business, and have gained a broad base of experience working for both large companies and smaller scale privately owned organizations across several consumer product category segments.
