Baptista’s Bakery was born out of the sale of Gardetto’s Bakery (snack mix) to General Mills in August of 1999. Gardetto’s had two facilities when it was sold. The Franklin, Wisconsin facility, which is a 135,000 square foot plant built in 1997 on 26 acres of land, was carved out of the sale and used by Nan Gardetto to start a new company. Nan named the company after her grandfather, Baptiste Gardetto, and her father, John Baptiste Gardetto.
After pursuing different courses of growth through various product initiatives, a decision was made in 2004 to focus all of our efforts in the areas of product development and contract manufacturing. The competitive niche which we chose to fill revolves around products that taste great, have nutritional benefits and are mainstream in their appeal to consumers.
