Following the Trends with LinkedIn Company Page EngagementAs LinkedIn focuses more on getting companies to participate in their network, much like how Facebook does with their Pages feature, you’ll start to notice more and more features on company pages.

For example, LinkedIn now offers a separate type of page to Universities which include a fancy alumni search tool. I wouldn’t be surprised to soon see specific types of pages based on industry, like for not-for-profits.

Organizations can now show off business units and projects called Showcase Pages.

Like other profiles, company pages can publish status updates with news and information about their organization.

To get these updates and to connect yourself with these organizations, you can Follow them.

Following a company makes sure you get their most recent status update in your homepage news feed.

It also let’s the company know that you are interested in them. Indeed, you name can be seen by the organization when they look at their followers. And this is a good thing, particularly if you are trying to sell to them, or interested in working for them.

On social media, the highest form of flattering is following, because it shows you are listening to what they have to say.

And to take it a step further, why not comment on an company page’s posts. Be the leader and start the conversation around their updates. They might start to notice you and start conversations around you!
