Who We Are
At Baxter Brewing, we believe great beer brings people together and so should great teams. As one of Maine's trailblazers in craft brewing, we're driven by the shared values that we created: to lead with purpose, craft quality experiences, own our impact, and the commitment that our words matter.
Every role at Baxter helps shape how we serve our community, support one another, and celebrate the joy of beer done right. Together, we're building something that lasts one pint, one partnership, and one purposeful decision at a time.
About the Role
You'll keep Baxter's brewery, restaurant, and warehouse running safely and reliably from daily checks on glycol and air compressor systems to the preventive maintenance that keeps our brewing, packaging, and facilities equipment in top shape. Working hands-on throughout our converted 1850s textile mill, you'll be the first call when something breaks and the steady hand that keeps it from breaking again. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, works well independently, and takes pride in keeping the whole operation moving.
You'll Thrive Here If You
• Like variety in your day and can move between mechanical, electrical, and administrative tasks without missing a beat
• Stay calm and decisive when equipment fails and people are counting on you for a fix
• Take ownership of your work, from routine PM logs to tracking your own budget line items
• Are comfortable working independently with minimal oversight, but just as comfortable coordinating with brewers, operations leaders, and outside contractors
• Don't mind physical work climbing, lifting, and being on your feet for a full shift
• Take safety and quality procedures seriously, every time, not just when someone's watching
What You'll Do
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care
• Develop, manage, and execute a preventive maintenance schedule using CMMS software, in cooperation with the Director of Operations, Director of Quality, and Brewers
• Perform preventive maintenance on brewing, cellaring, packaging, warehouse, and office equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, shafts, bearings, bushings, sprockets, sheaves, belts, and other mechanical components
• Conduct daily record-keeping and visual inspections of critical systems, including the effluent pH meter and dosing pump, air compressor systems, glycol system pumps, chillers, and glycol buffer tank levels
Safety, Quality & Emergency Response
• Comply with and contribute to Baxter's safety and quality procedures and guidelines
• Respond to emergency maintenance needs as they arise, including weekends, and serve as the first point of contact on maintenance alarms
Facilities, Inventory & Vendor Management
• Schedule and maintain Baxter's waste management systems
• Create and maintain a shareable tools and parts inventory, including ordering
• Facilitate future facility improvements and long-term projects with the management team, contractors, and equipment manufacturers
• Serve as the point of contact for contractor work, clearly communicating scope, expectations, and accountability, and documenting completed work
Records & Budget Management
• Maintain accurate records of time spent on maintenance and repairs, and log equipment downtime
• Adhere to and clearly document the maintenance budget using CMMS software or Excel
• Maintain utilities tracking documentation
Perform other related duties as assigned.

How You Live It In This Role

Own the Impact
You take full ownership of the preventive maintenance program, your budget, and your tools inventory, treating Baxter's equipment like it's your own.
Our Words Matter
You document your work clearly and communicate scope and expectations plainly, whether you're briefing a contractor or logging a repair.
